"I Do Not Like the Cone of Shame!"

Our poor Esme had to put on the "Cone of Shame." She got a sore on her face from the cat or dog (while they were playing roughly). When the sore would start to heal, she would begin scratching it again, causing it to get bigger and bleed. Thus, her fate was decided... the cone of shame. Here are some pictures from today's dreaded event...

Right after I put it on, she just stood still not knowing what to do. Then, she walked over to the kennel and stood there like this for a couple of minutes!

Then when I finally got her out of the kennel, she had this poor sad little face and just stood there looking helpless...

I think she finally realized what was going on, and was humiliated and depressed. This picture says it all!

That's the sore on the side of her face...

By the end of the day Esme has her spirits back up. She still bangs into things and gets stuck sometimes, but she's upbeat and energetic.

Hopefully her sore will now heal. It's crazy how much an animal becomes like your own child. Esme has been a really big blessing to both Jason and me with everything that has been going on. Until we have kids of our own, she definitely takes the place of one for now. We love her!

Haha! Awe, she looks so embarassed! She'll be healed and that cone will be off her in no time though :D

Poor Esme. That first picture of her hanging her head in her kennel is the saddest thing ever! (But also minutely funny to know a dog can be self-conscious.) It's reminds me of how we all felt getting braces. Or me in my headgear. Yikes.
